Progressive Retinal Atrophy

An inherited, painless degeneration of the retina that slowly takes sight, usually night vision first, over months to years. More common in dogs, with breed predispositions and DNA tests. There is no treatment, but because it is gradual most pets adapt beautifully, and a known diagnosis is time to prepare.
