The relationship beyond the appointment

Care brings you together.
Community keeps you connected.

Life with a pet who needs extra care happens every day. A circle gives those everyday experiences a home, with your practice at the heart of it.

Keep the connection going

Give clients a familiar place to return between visits. A welcome, a weekly question or a shared small win can keep your practice part of the conversation.

Make room for peer support

Bring together people who understand life with a pet who needs extra care. Members can offer encouragement and share experiences with each other.

Put a person behind the practice

Let families get to know your approach through a verified public profile, a link to your Atlas listing and the community you host.

Built around real practice life

A circle you can make your own.

Start with a handful of clients and a simple weekly check-in. Set the purpose and response hours in your description, then give members space to connect with each other. You set the rhythm and look after the conversation.

  • One conversation everyone can join

Share a general tip or a thoughtful question, and let the group build on it.

  • A reason to come back

Circle activity notifications help members find new conversations, using their PLM preferences.

  • Practical hosting controls

Replace invitation links, remove members, hide messages and archive your circle when needed.

A shared space.
Clear boundaries.

The host and members can read the conversation. PLM moderators can review messages that are reported.

Pet records stay separate. Joining a circle does not share a clinical record or include a consultation.

You explain when you’ll check in. Individual treatment questions and urgent concerns go through the practice’s usual channels.

Members can copy what they read. Encourage thoughtful sharing and respect for each other’s privacy.

Before you begin

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Wondering whether a circle fits your work, or need help with your Atlas listing?

Talk to the PLM team
Who can apply to host a circle?

Veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, physiotherapists, hydrotherapists, behaviourists and other pet care professionals can apply. You’ll need an individual practitioner profile, a PetCare Atlas listing and public evidence of your professional credentials. PLM reviews applications before enabling hosting. If acupuncture is part of your work, choose your professional discipline and describe it in your title and bio.

What does it cost for me and my clients?

Hosting and joining are free during the practitioner pilot, including for clients on a free PLM account. The pilot supports up to five circles per practitioner, including archived circles, and up to 200 members plus the host in each circle. This is pilot pricing, not a promise about future pricing.

Do I need to be available all the time?

You choose the rhythm and explain your response hours in the circle description. A small group and a weekly prompt are a practical starting point. You are responsible for moderating your circle, but members can talk to each other too. Be clear that individual treatment questions and urgent concerns belong with the treating practice through its usual channels.

Is a circle private? Who can see what members share?

The conversation is available to its host and members. PLM moderators can review reported messages. Members can see each other’s display names and posts, and could copy what they read, so a circle is not a confidential clinical record. Anyone holding a valid invitation can preview the circle name, description and public host identity; keep client details out of those fields.

Does joining give me access to a client’s pet records?

No. Circle membership does not share pet records, create a clinical relationship or include a consultation. Circles are for community support and general education. Any clinical arrangements or record-sharing permissions are separate.

What do clients need to join?

A free PetsLikeMine account, a verified email address and your current invitation link. They explicitly choose to join and can leave later. You can replace or revoke invitations and remove members. Invitation links expire after seven days; replacing a link invalidates the old one without removing existing members.

What can we share inside a circle?

The pilot supports text conversations: introductions, general guidance, questions, everyday experiences and encouragement. Members can remove their own messages and report concerns; hosts can hide messages and remove members. Circle activity uses PLM’s notification preferences. Photo uploads, video calls, appointment booking and clinical messaging are not part of the circle pilot.

How does PetCare Atlas fit in?

Your Atlas listing helps people learn about your services. Your PLM profile links to that listing, while your private circle gives invited clients a place to connect. You supply your listing URL when applying; PLM checks your identity, credentials and listing. Accounts and records are not automatically merged or imported between the products.
